Community Info and Resources

- NYC Childcare Tax Relief Programs: Mayor Adams announced new childcare tax credits. View the Office of the Mayor’s Childcare Plan for more information.

- Food Service Businesses: NYC Commercial Organics Requirements began on July 31. By law, staff-handled organic waste must be source separated for collection. For more information, visit here.

- Water Bill Reimbursements:  The city has launched a temporary water bill relief program that is forgiving up to 100 percent of interest when customers pay a portion or all of their outstanding bills. The amnesty program, authorized by the New York City Water Board, will only run until April 30, 2023. To receive amnesty and confirm eligibility, or for more information, visit DEP’s water amnesty website or call (718) 595-7000.

ECOQUEST: Wings in Spring

EcoQuests, part of the NYC EcoFlora Project, challenge New Yorkers to become community scientists and observe, study, and conserve the native plants, fungi, and animals of the City via iNaturalist, an easy-to-use mobile app.

VOLUNTEER WITH FRIENDS

Help beautify the Park every Second Saturday of the month, March – November. Volunteers collect trash, weeds, plant, paint, mulch, and rake. Supplies, gloves, and safety guidelines are provided.

 Anibal Avilez Playground 111 W 108th St

 Marc Ali Edmonds- Soul Artist- An Exhibition of 28 Works from 1974 to 1994.

On View through June 15th | 111 W 108th St.

ALI became a respected subway artist well before the advent of “wildstyle” graffiti art. His works often contained a humorous political message, a trend which led to his establishing and publishing the comic-oriented “Zoo York Magazine” in the early 1980s. The premier issue was first published in May 1979. In 1981, Edmonds recorded an international hit, ”Shoot the Pump”, with his group "Johnny Walter Negro and the loose Joints “.

CCC CLOTHING CLOSET

The Clothing Closet distributes emergency clothing through the Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center, and also provides workplace-appropriate clothing for individuals returning to the workforce. Persons seeking professional clothing must have a referral from an agency familiar with their employment search. Clothing distribution is free of charge and based on availability, and clients can obtain clothing once per month. Identification is required. The Clothing Closet accepts donations of gently-used, freshly-laundered clothing. Donations can be dropped off at the Cathedral from Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM

CCC SUNDAY SOUP KITCHEN

With no eligibility restrictions, meal services are offered to all without regard to age, gender, race, income, or denominational affiliation.
