Community Info and Resources - NYC Childcare Tax Relief Programs: Mayor Adams announced new childcare tax credits. View the Office of the Mayor’s Childcare Plan for more information. - Food Service Businesses: NYC Commercial Organics Requirements began on July 31. By law, staff-handled organic waste must be source separated for collection. For more information, visit here. Free Summer Meals Starts June 28th! Summer Meals Program is available throughout New York City to anyone ages 18 years old and under. Designated public schools, community pool centers, parks, and food trucks will be open for service. No registration, documentation, or ID is necessary to receive a free breakfast or lunch meal. More Info More Info More Info Open Streets Community Events Family Camping: Manhattan Sunday, July 9th, 2023 7:00pm-7:00am We camp to create lasting memories, connect with the natural world, and bond with our families. The Urban Park Rangers celebrate the tradition of camping and we look forward to welcoming your family. Families are chosen by lottery. Lottery registration opens on Wednesday June 28. More Info Spanish Classes @ Taller Latino Students learn Spanish of the Americas in an artistic, conversational, and community based setting. An Emphasis on sound and dialogue gets our students to communicate more quickly than they ever thought possible. Volunteers collect trash, weeds, plant, paint, mulch, and rake. Supplies, gloves, and safety guidelines are provided. More Info

Environmental Bring Your Own Container In the coming weeks, look for the Bring Your Own Container/UWS Reduces Waste stickers at neighborhood businesses and go in with confidence that the store will accept your reusable container to fill and you won’t be bombarded with single-use plastic that you don’t need or want. BYO Container/UWS Reduces Waste is a new project of  It’s Easy Being Green, your neighborhood climate education and personal action group. We will ask our neighborhood coffee, tea shops and restaurants to display our BYO Container sticker in their window to let you know that they will accept your travel mug and/or food container to fill. We hope to include prepared food stores in the future when the NYS health codes are updated. (We’re working on this too!) Join our effort!  Please help us find conscientious businesses who would like to put the BYO sticker in their storefronts.  Send your ideas and  recommendations to BYO.itseasybeinggreen@gmail.com. El Museo Del Barrio Something Beautiful: Reframing La Colección May 19th, 2023-March 10, 2024 Something Beautiful: Reframing La Colección is El Museo del Barrio’s most ambitious presentation of its unique, complex, and culturally diverse permanent collection in over two decades. Organized by Rodrigo Moura, Chief Curator; Susanna V. Temkin, Curator; and Lee Sessions, Permanent Collection Associate Curator, the exhibition will present approximately 500 artworks. More Info

NYBC Blood Drive Monday, July 10th, 2023 | 11:30 PM - 5:30 PM The Cathedral is proud to partner with the New York Blood Center for a blood drive on Monday, June 5 in Synod Hall. Every year, 12,000 patients are diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma or diseases like sickle cell for which a blood stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor may be their only chance at a cure. Join us to help save lives and learn how you can be the match someone needs. Appointments are encouraged. To schedule yours, visit the New York Blood Center's website. Walk-ins allowed if room and schedule capacity permits. Please remember to eat, drink and bring your donor ID card or ID with name and photo. For eligibility information, visit nybc.org/eligibility. More Info CCC CLOTHING CLOSET  Sundays | 10AM-1PM | Town Building The Clothing Closet distributes emergency clothing through the Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center, and also provides workplace-appropriate clothing for individuals returning to the workforce. Persons seeking professional clothing must have a referral from an agency familiar with their employment search. Clothing distribution is free of charge and based on availability, and clients can obtain clothing once per month. Identification is required. The Clothing Closet accepts donations of gently-used, freshly-laundered clothing. Donations can be dropped off at the Cathedral from Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM CCC SUNDAY SOUP KITCHEN  Sundays | 10AM-3PM | Town Building With no eligibility restrictions, meal services are offered to all without regard to age, gender, race, income, or denominational affiliation. Sunday Soup Kitchen meals consist of a healthy, diverse menu that includes fresh produce, a wide variety of meat/proteins, and low-salt, heart-healthy food options. Food Pantry Monday-Friday | 12PM-7PM | Town Building Anyone is welcome walk in for shelf stable items, produce (when available) and an array of items from our common refrigerator.
