Community Info and Resources

- NYC Childcare Tax Relief Programs: Mayor Adams announced new childcare tax credits. View the Office of the Mayor’s Childcare Plan for more information.

- Food Service Businesses: NYC Commercial Organics Requirements began on July 31. By law, staff-handled organic waste must be source separated for collection. For more information, visit here.

- The Department of Environmental Protection sent out a notice on January 30 about their water bill Amnesty Program for all customers that have fallen behind on their payments. If you owe water and wastewater charges, you may be eligible. This is a one-time-only program that will run for 90 days and is available for all customers regardless of tax class or amount of water debt.

Waste Setout Times Will Change on April 1, 2023

As of April 1, 2023, the City of New York is taking steps to reduce the piles of bags on the curb by changing the waste setout times. New rules for setting out trash, recycling, and curbside composting go into effect on April 1, 2023. Below is a summary of those rules and how they will impact residences and businesses.

ECOQUEST: Wings in Spring

EcoQuests, part of the NYC EcoFlora Project, challenge New Yorkers to become community scientists and observe, study, and conserve the native plants, fungi, and animals of the City via iNaturalist, an easy-to-use mobile app.

VOLUNTEER WITH FRIENDS

Help beautify the Park every Second Saturday of the month, March – November. Volunteers collect trash, weeds, plant, paint, mulch, and rake. Supplies, gloves, and safety guidelines are provided.

In this all-day piano festival, we explore how natural elements have influenced musical composition as sound illustrations that ignite the imagination through the vast piano repertoire. Featuring Bloomingdale’s exquisitely talented faculty and their piano students and will be held in our David Greer Recital Hall.

Roberto Sierra (b.1953) was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico and is one of the most important composers of our time. This program features recent works for solo piano that explore the colorful and virtuosic range of the instrument.

CCC CLOTHING CLOSET 
Sundays | 10AM-2PM | Town Building

The Clothing Closet distributes emergency clothing through the Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center, and also provides workplace-appropriate clothing for individuals returning to the workforce. Persons seeking professional clothing must have a referral from an agency familiar with their employment search. Clothing distribution is free of charge and based on availability, and clients can obtain clothing once per month. Identification is required. The Clothing Closet accepts donations of gently-used, freshly-laundered clothing. Donations can be dropped off at the Cathedral from Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM

CCC SUNDAY SOUP KITCHEN 
Sundays | 10AM-2PM | Town Building

With no eligibility restrictions, meal services are offered to all without regard to age, gender, race, income, or denominational affiliation. Sunday Soup Kitchen meals consist of a healthy, diverse menu that includes fresh produce, a wide variety of meat/proteins, and low-salt, heart-healthy food options.
